Increases the pathologist fee for completing autopsies from $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 per completed autopsy for deaths affecting the public interest.

Pathologists remain eligible for reimbursement of mileage expenses to and from autopsy sites and out-of-pocket expenses for third-party testing up to $100.00 per autopsy.

Medical examiners, physicians, and pathologists subpoenaed for grand jury, trial, or deposition testimony are entitled to expert witness hourly fees set by the court plus mileage expenses, paid by the requesting jurisdiction or party.

Section 41-61-75 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 is amended to reflect the new autopsy fee.

The amendment is set to expire on July 1, 2020.
