Adds definition of "platoon" to Mississippi Code as a group of individual motor vehicles traveling in a unified manner at electronically coordinated speeds while following each other at closer distances than would normally be reasonable and prudent.

Exempts drivers of motor vehicles or motor trucks that are part of a platoon (except the lead vehicle) from the requirement to maintain reasonable and prudent following distances under Section 63-3-619.

Exempts platoon vehicles from the 300-foot minimum following distance requirement that applies to motor trucks traveling outside business or residence districts.

Effective date is July 1, 2018.
