Expands weapons possession prohibitions to include persons convicted of misdemeanors who received enhanced sentences under Sections 99-19-301 through 99-19-307, in addition to felons.

Prohibited weapons include firearms, bowie knives, dirk knives, butcher knives, switchblade knives, metallic knuckles, blackjacks, and firearm mufflers or silencers.

Allows affected misdemeanor convicts to apply to circuit court for a certificate of rehabilitation to restore weapon possession rights, using the same standards applied to felons.

Violation of the weapons prohibition is a felony punishable by a fine up to $5,000, imprisonment for 1-10 years, or both.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
