SB 2836 Summary

• Extends the repealer date for Mississippi Medicaid services from June 30, 2018 to July 1, 2021, continuing authorization for the comprehensive list of covered care and services.

• Allows rural hospitals with 50 or fewer licensed beds the option to be reimbursed at 101% of Medicare rates instead of using the Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) methodology for outpatient services.

• Removes various service limitations including annual physician visit caps, home health visit limits, and monthly prescription drug limits for Medicaid beneficiaries.

• Authorizes Medicaid reimbursement for treatment of opioid dependency and other highly addictive substance use disorders, and allows physician-administered drugs to be billed as either medical claims or pharmacy claims.

• Prohibits expansion of Medicaid managed care without enabling legislation and establishes a Commission on Expanding Medicaid Managed Care to study and make recommendations to the Legislature by December 1, 2018.
