Senate Bill 2842 Summary

• Establishes a five-year pilot program effective January 1, 2019, for a Provider-Sponsored Health Plan to participate in Medicaid managed care programs.

• Requires the selected Provider-Sponsored Health Plan to cover at least 20% of the population enrolled in the authorized managed care program(s) and must be licensed by the Mississippi Insurance Department as of the bill's effective date.

• Directs the Division of Medicaid to compare the Provider-Sponsored Health Plan's performance against other plans in four areas: health outcomes, administrative costs, provider satisfaction, and provider participation.

• Requires comparative performance reports to be submitted to the House and Senate Medicaid Committee Chairs in December 2020 and each December thereafter during the pilot period.

• Extends the repeal date of Section 43-13-117 from June 30, 2018, to June 30, 2023.
