Expands definition of dental hygienist to include performance of clinical, photographic, radiographic, and periodontal examinations for diagnosis by dentist, and other delegated procedures.

Allows dental hygienists with at least 1,600 hours (one year full-time) of experience to practice under general supervision for up to 15 consecutive business days without dentist present, provided supervising dentist examined patient within 11 months and established written treatment plan and emergency protocols.

Requires patient notification in advance that supervising dentist will be absent and that dental hygienist cannot diagnose dental health status.

Requires dental hygienists practicing under general supervision to maintain current professional liability insurance coverage.

Maintains requirement that dental assistants continue to practice only under direct supervision of licensed dentist.
