Commends the life and dedicated public service of former State Senator and Representative Robert H. "Rob" Smith of Florence, Mississippi, who passed away on December 16, 2017

Recognizes Smith's 24 years in the Mississippi Legislature, including four years in the House of Representatives (1979-1983) and 20 years in the State Senate representing District 35 (1983-2003)

Honors Smith's legislative accomplishments including authoring the Purple Heart free car tag bill, working on agricultural initiatives with former President Bill Clinton, and advocating for veterans, firefighters, law enforcement, and public education

Acknowledges Smith's extensive community service as a founding member and President of South Rankin Rotary Club, Rotary District 6820 Governor, Mason, and member of multiple civic organizations
