Recognizes Sturdivant's 12,000-acre operation called Due West, which he manages with his brothers Walker and Sykes who oversee crop-marketing services, grain elevator, and cotton gin operations.

Credits Mississippi State University Extension Service as instrumental to Sturdivant's success, noting his willingness to adopt new crop-production technology and consult with Extension specialists.

Notes Sturdivant's wife Jan's involvement with 4-H equine programs as a Certified Instructor in horsemanship education.
