Commends the life and public health advocacy of Dr. Alfio Rausa, who passed away on January 3, 2018, after more than 50 years of public health service in Mississippi.

Recognizes Dr. Rausa's career achievements including his service as Regional Public Health Officer in Greenwood (1970) and District Health Officer (1980), and his management of multiple disease outbreaks including diphtheria, hepatitis A, measles, syphilis, and tuberculosis.

Notes Dr. Rausa's honors including Mississippi Public Health Association President (1992), Felix J. Underwood Award recipient (1992), and Lifetime Membership in the Association (2015), as well as his role as Chair of the Fannie Lou Hamer Cameron Foundation Board since 2015.

Extends the condolences of the Legislature to Dr. Rausa's surviving family, including his wife Sylvanna, two children, and three grandchildren.

Directs that this resolution be presented to Dr. Rausa's family and forwarded to the Mississippi Public Health Association and State Board of Health.
