Jacob Kight made a 65-foot birdie putt on the final hole on May 4, 2017, at Big Oaks Country Club to secure a one-stroke victory for Nanih Waiya over Tupelo Christian Prep in the MHSAA Class 1A State Golf Championship.

Nanih Waiya recorded a final score of 669 compared to Tupelo Christian Preparatory School's 670, with both teams tied at 338 after the first round.

Jacob Kight, a sophomore, won State Medalist honors for the second consecutive season with a 36-hole total of 145 (74-71).

Team members include Cody Clark, Steven Thornton, Jake Kight, Landon Weeks, and Coley Taylor.

The resolution commends and congratulates the Nanih Waiya Attendance Center Boys Golf Team for their state championship and directs the resolution be presented to Coach Grant Smallwood and Principal Belinda Swart.
