Gulfport High School "Admirals" defeated top-ranked Madison Central 2-1 on February 12, 2018, to win the MHSAA Class 6A Boys State Soccer Championship, ending an eight-year drought since their last state title in 2010.

The victory was notable as an upset with Gulfport ranked No. 3 and Madison Central ranked No. 1 by MaxPreps, despite Madison Central having the home field advantage with their campus located less than three miles from the game site.

Gulfport finished the season with an 11-game winning streak during which they allowed only two goals, with the championship-clinching goal scored by Lucas Ragula three minutes into the second half.

The resolution recognizes Head Coach Henrik Madsen and the 32-member roster of student athletes, as well as six assistant coaches.

The resolution directs that copies be presented to Coach Madsen and Gulfport High School Principal Michael Lindsey, forwarded to the Harrison County Board of Education, and provided to the Capitol Press Corps.
