Commends and congratulates the Simpson County Academy "Lady Cougars" Softball Team and Head Coach Adam Evans for winning their first-ever AAAA DII Softball State Championship in 2017

Team finished season with a 28-9 record, won AAAA DII District 3 and State Championships, and finished as MAIS Overall Runner-Up

Lady Cougars defeated Magnolia Heights 10-6 in the championship game after Abigail Carter hit a game-deciding grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning to tie the game at 6-6

Four players made the MAIS All-State Team (Bailey Sartin, Abigail Carter, Leah Beth Luckey, and Morgan Griffith); Bella Luckey named MAIS AAAA DII Player of the Year; Coach Adam Evans named MAIS AAAA DII Coach of the Year
