Columbus High School "Falcons" Boys Basketball Team won the MHSAA Class 6A State Championship on March 10, 2018, defeating No. 1 Meridian 47-37.

Denijay Harris led the championship game with 26 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while Robert Woodard and Casey Smith contributed key performances.

Head Coach Anthony Carlyle earned his fifth state championship in six years in his first season at Columbus and first attempt in the 6A classification.

Senate and House commend and congratulate the team, coaches, parents, and sponsors for bringing honor to Columbus High School and the State of Mississippi.

Resolution directs presentation of the commendation to Coach Carlyle and Principal Lori Cargile, forwarding to the Columbus School Board and Capitol Press Corps.
