Recognizes the academic and professional achievements of retiring University of Southern Mississippi Sport Management Professor Dr. Dennis Phillips upon his retirement after 26 years at USM.

Acknowledges Dr. Phillips' 40+ years of career contributions to sport management and administration, including 15 years as NCAA and Conference USA Faculty Athletic Representative and 6 years as elected Faculty Representative for the National Board of NCAA Division 1 Athletics.

Commends his 22 years as Graduate Coordinator of the Master of Science in Sport Management Program, where he recruited and placed hundreds of students, and his leadership of the first USM Study Abroad Program in Sport Management with British Studies.

Highlights his service as President of the Mississippi Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MAHPERD), roles on the Executive Board of NCACE and SRLA, and work as consultant for Game Day Consulting on sport event security.

Directs that the resolution be presented to Dr. Phillips, USM President Rodney D. Bennett, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, and the Capitol Press Corps.
