MS HB1043

Establishes English as the official language of Mississippi and requires all documents and instruments of record written and recorded after July 1, 2019, to be in the English language.

Amends conveyance of land requirements to mandate that documents of conveyance must be written in English before being lodged with the chancery court clerk for recording.

Adds a specific requirement that each document or instrument presented to the chancery court clerk for recording must be in the English language.

Exempts certain documents from English language requirements, including documents executed before July 1, 2009, military separation documents, documents executed outside the United States, certified copies from courts or government agencies, and filings under the Uniform Commercial Code.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
