• Authorizes county boards of supervisors to donate funds from the general fund to pay medical expenses of injured volunteer firefighters, limited to amounts not covered by other accident or disability insurance.

• Defines "volunteer firefighter" as a member of a volunteer fire department who serves without compensation (except nominal compensation or meals), has been active for at least one year, and has completed any required certification.

• Adds this authorization as subsection (x) to Section 19-5-93, Mississippi Code of 1972, which lists permissible charitable donations by county boards.

• Effective date is July 1, 2019.
