HB 1265 Summary

• Amends Mississippi Code sections 49-15-17 and 49-27-69 to direct all fees and sums collected under Chapter 27, Title 49 (Coastal Wetlands Protection Act) to the Coastal Preserve Account within the Seafood Fund.

• Modifies the Coastal Preserve Account to explicitly include fees or other sums received by the commission pursuant to the Coastal Wetlands Protection Act for management, improvement, and acquisition of coastal preserves.

• Requires all monies collected under the Coastal Wetlands Protection Act to be used specifically for management, improvement, acquisition, and benefit of coastal preserves in the state.

• Takes effect July 1, 2019.
