House Bill 131 Summary

• Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, K-12 attendance centers shall receive separate accountability grades for grades K-8 students on a 700-point scale and grades 9-12 students on a 1,000-point scale.

• The Commission on School Accreditation shall use the same components outlined in the 2018 Public School Accountability Standards when assigning the separate accountability grades.

• The bill amends Section 37-17-6 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 regarding the performance-based accreditation system for public schools.

• The effective date of this bill is July 1, 2019.
