MS HB1410

Requires owners of real property or lessees with hunting rights to obtain a permit from the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to hunt with dogs on any tract of real property.

Prohibits permits for lessees hunting with dogs on tracts smaller than 1,000 contiguous acres and prohibits permits for property owners on tracts smaller than 250 contiguous acres.

Requires permit applications to include written property boundary descriptions, maps showing key features and adjacent occupied dwellings, and signatures from all property owners or authorized agents.

Mandates that owners of hunting dogs display the permit number on the dog's collar at all times during the hunt.

Establishes first violations as Class II offenses and second or subsequent violations as Class I offenses; authorizes the Commission on Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks to promulgate implementing rules and regulations with the Department enforcing the law effective July 1, 2019.
