Publicly funded postsecondary educational institutions must provide students with specific information annually upon declaration of a major, including projected degree completion time, total credit hours required, and number of semesters/years needed.

Institutions must disclose the full cost of attendance, including average financial aid awarded, tuition and fees, room and board costs, and expenses for books, supplies, and major-associated fees.

Institutions must provide information on program objectives, tentative course content, average salaries for graduates in the major, and the number of state, regional, and national job prospects available in the field.

The Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning and the Mississippi Community College Board must assist institutions under their jurisdiction in providing this information to students in a timely manner and may require data in aggregated and disaggregated formats.

The act takes effect July 1, 2019.
