Prohibits any elected official from changing political party affiliation during their term of office.

Defines a change in party affiliation as publicly declaring departure from the original party or publicly declaring membership in a different party.

Treats any change in political party affiliation as an automatic resignation, creating a vacancy in the office.

Requires that any resulting vacancy be filled according to the existing laws and procedures applicable to that office.

Effective date: July 1, 2019.
