House Bill 1533 Summary

• Authorizes the Marion County Economic Development District to transfer 18 acres at Columbia Training School to Marion County Board of Supervisors without cost for law enforcement training purposes.

• Exempts the 18-acre transfer from monetary consideration and use restriction requirements normally applicable to economic development district property transactions.

• Authorizes the Department of Finance and Administration to transfer approximately 406 acres at Columbia Training School to the Marion County Economic Development District for industrial development of the Marion County AirPlex.

• Authorizes the Department of Finance and Administration to transfer approximately 40 additional acres to the Marion County Economic Development District to provide unobstructed access for industrial development of the Marion County AirPlex.

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 43-27-39 to allow Columbia Training School property to be conveyed to the Marion County Economic Development District for the purposes prescribed in the act, effective July 1, 2019.
