Creates new crime of indecent assault in Mississippi Code Section 97-3-8, defined as intentionally touching another person on breast, buttock, inner thigh, groin, genital area, or anal area without consent for purposes of gratifying lust or indulging depraved sexual desires.

Misdemeanor indecent assault (first or second offense) is punishable by up to 6 months in county jail and/or fine up to $500.

Felony indecent assault applies when offender has two or more prior convictions for indecent assault within the preceding 7 years, punishable by up to 5 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections and/or fine up to $5,000.

Does not prevent prosecution under existing statutes Section 97-5-23 or 97-3-7 for related offenses.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
