Effective July 1, 2019, pharmacy benefits for Medicaid beneficiaries in managed care or coordinated care programs must be administered through the Division of Medicaid's traditional fee-for-service pharmacy program with retail point-of-sale services.

Managed care organizations can no longer operate their own pharmacy benefit programs separately; all prescription drug coverage must use the state's standard pharmacy program.

This change applies to all managed care program or coordinated care program beneficiaries currently implemented by the Division of Medicaid.

The bill amends Mississippi Code Section 43-13-117 to add this requirement as a condition for managed care program approval.
