MS HB38

Increases the number of disabled veteran motor vehicle license plates/tags from one (1) to two (2) that may be issued annually to a veteran with 100% permanent service-connected disability rating, at $1.00 per plate/tag.

Expands the exemption from ad valorem and privilege taxes to cover up to two (2) vehicles owned by disabled veterans or surviving spouses of deceased disabled veterans, instead of one (1) vehicle.

Updates Section 27-51-41 to conform with the changes, changing the ad valorem tax exemption for disabled American veterans from one (1) to two (2) motor vehicles.

Applies to private passenger motor vehicles and pickup trucks only, with ownership proof required at time of application.

Effective date: July 1, 2019.
