Designates April 2019 as "Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month" in Mississippi to increase education and promote resident wellbeing.

Acknowledges that esophageal cancer affects thousands annually, with men four times more likely than women to contract and die from the disease, typically affecting those 55 years or older.

Notes early diagnosis is difficult due to lack of early symptoms, and lists common symptoms including weight loss, difficulty swallowing, pain behind the breastbone, hoarseness, and heartburn.

Recommends prevention methods including regular exercise, healthy eating habits, and avoiding smoking and heavy alcohol consumption; identifies early detection through physical exams, chest x-rays, and esophageal/stomach imaging.

Directs copies of the resolution to be furnished to members of the Capitol Press Corps.
