Commends Representative Willie James Perkins, Sr. for his distinguished 27-year legislative career representing House District 32 (Leflore County), serving from November 1991 until his resignation on December 31, 2018.

Congratulates Perkins on his election as Chancellor for Subdistrict 7-2 of the Seventh Chancery Court Judicial District, which covers parts of Bolivar, Coahoma, Leflore, Quitman, Tallahatchie, and Tunica Counties.

Recognizes Perkins' achievements including serving as Chairman of the Local and Private Committee (2004-2011), where he helped pass legislation establishing Jackson's convention center and two Civil Rights museums.

Acknowledges Perkins' historic firsts as the first African-American city attorney and judge of Pickens and Greenwood, first African-American board attorney for Leflore County Board of Supervisors, first African-American elected from Leflore County to the Mississippi House since Reconstruction, and first African-American male Chancellor for the Seventh Chancery Court Judicial District.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Chancellor Perkins and the Capitol Press Corps.
