House Resolution mourning the death of Ben Richard Burney, a World War II Navy veteran from Crystal Springs who passed away on January 1, 2019, at age 92.

Burney served aboard the U.S.S. Soubarissen during World War II and later earned an accounting degree from the University of Mississippi.

Established Burney Water Well Service with his father and held executive positions with Kuhlman Electric, Royal Maid, and Mississippi Industries for the Blind, retiring in 1987.

Active in community service through the Lions Club, Lake Copiah Board of Directors, Cattlemen's Association, and founded U.S.S. Soubarissen Ship Reunions to unite Navy veterans.

Survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; copies of resolution to be provided to family and Capitol Press Corps.
