Commends United States Marine Corps Corporal David Potts, Sr., for his distinguished service as one of the first African-American Marines and member of the historic Montford Point Marines.

Recognizes Potts' military service from May 14, 1943 to 1946, including his participation in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign during World War II with the Montford Point Marines, the first all-African-American training facility established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1942.

Honors Potts' post-military contributions including 27 years of service with Veterans Affairs in Gulfport, ownership of Potts Home Appliance beginning in 1973, and extensive civic and religious leadership roles in Gulfport and surrounding communities.

Documents Potts' numerous awards and recognitions, including the Montford Point Marines Congressional Gold Medal received June 28, 2012, and various community service honors dating back to 1993.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Potts' surviving family members and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
