MS SB2053

Requires the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning and community/junior college boards to adopt policies awarding educational credits to enrolled veterans for military training or service courses.

Credits must meet American Council on Education standards or equivalent and be determined by the institution's academic department or faculty to be equivalent to existing courses.

Credits must be awarded in accordance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges standards.

Each board must adopt necessary rules, regulations, and procedures to implement the policy effective no later than the 2020-2021 academic year.

Effective date: July 1, 2019.
