MS SB2075

Requires the State Board of Education to replace Common Core State Standards with ELA standards from California, Indiana, Massachusetts, Texas, or 2010 Massachusetts ELA draft standards beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.

Requires adoption of mathematics standards from 2010 versions in California, Florida, Indiana, or Massachusetts, which are available in the public domain for districts to implement.

Prohibits adoption of curriculum standards developed outside Mississippi (including Next Generation Science Standards and National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies) without public hearings in each congressional district, open comment periods, and approval by a joint House-Senate Education Committee followed by legislative action.

Restricts the State Board of Education and state officials from joining consortiums or entering agreements with federal agencies or private entities that would limit Mississippi's control over curriculum standards and student assessments, including agreements contingent on funding.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
