MS SB2174

Allows public school teachers transferring between Mississippi school districts to carry over up to five unused days of personal leave to their new district.

Previously, unused personal leave was forfeited when teachers transferred; this bill permits transfer of unused leave if the teacher remains in the same district or transfers to another public school district.

Unused sick leave already could be credited for retirement purposes under existing law; this bill clarifies the treatment of personal leave upon transfer.

Effective July 1, 2019.
