Excludes burglary of a dwelling from the definition of "crime of violence" for purposes of determining drug court eligibility under Mississippi Code Section 9-23-5(b).

Allows individuals with prior burglary of a dwelling convictions to potentially participate in drug court programs, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.

Restructures Section 9-23-15 eligibility requirements to clarify that participants cannot have felony convictions for crimes of violence within the previous ten years, trafficking convictions, or pending violent crime charges.

Maintains existing prohibitions on drug court participation for those currently charged with trafficking in controlled substances under Section 41-29-139(f).

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
