Mississippi Hospital Association designated as administrative agent for the Mississippi Health Information Network (MS-HIN) to carry out duties and responsibilities under the Health Information Technology Act.

MS-HIN board consists of 11 members appointed by various state agencies and organizations including the Governor, State Board of Health, Mississippi State Medical Association, Primary Health Care Association, and others with staggered initial terms of 1-4 years and subsequent 4-year terms.

MS-HIN board authorized to adopt bylaws, elect officers, establish dispute resolution processes, and enter into contracts; executive director serves at board's pleasure and manages daily operations including hiring staff.

MS-HIN data is confidential and exempt from Freedom of Information Act, Mississippi Open Records Act, and court subpoenas except with patient consent or per MS-HIN board rules; violations reported to Attorney General.

Repealer date for Sections 41-119-1 through 41-119-21 extended from July 1, 2019 to July 1, 2021.
