Secretary of State shall compare the Statewide Elections Management System with Mississippi Department of Public Safety records and other relevant federal, state, and county records to identify non-citizens registered to vote.

County registrars must send notices to potentially ineligible voters, who have 30 days to provide proof of citizenship through birth certificate, U.S. passport, naturalization documentation, or documents recognized under the federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Voters who fail to provide citizenship proof within 30 days shall be removed from the voter registration system, though those submitting naturalization certificate numbers may request a temporary stay pending federal verification.

Voters unable to provide required documentation may appeal to the county election commission, which shall conduct a hearing and determine citizenship status; the registrar must update voter records based on the commission's decision.

All citizenship documentation and records used in the verification process are confidential and exempt from public inspection; law becomes effective July 1, 2019.
