MS SB2859

Requires the Mississippi Department of Corrections to establish and publish standards on its website within 30 days that counties must meet to receive state offenders for public service work programs.

Mandates the Department of Corrections respond to county requests for state offenders within 60 days and provide written explanation if a request is rejected.

Applies the same standards and 60-day response requirement to joint state-county work programs under Section 47-5-451.

Brings forward existing statutory sections 47-5-931 and 47-5-933 regarding housing of offenders in regional correctional facilities for possible future amendment.

Takes effect July 1, 2019.
