Local school boards must register homeschool students residing within school attendance boundaries for participation in extracurricular activities on the same basis as public school students, with requests due by May 1 for the following school year.

Homeschool students must pay the same participation fees as public school students, adhere to the same code of conduct and behavior standards, maintain equivalent grade point averages, and satisfy residency requirements.

Homeschool students convicted of or found to have committed a felony are subject to established district school board policies regarding participation eligibility.

School insurance provided for extracurricular activity participants must cover homeschool students, and schools cannot be prohibited from competing against other schools based on inclusion of homeschool students.

Public schools are prohibited from membership in organizations that regulate interscholastic activities and discriminate against eligible homeschool students; act takes effect July 1, 2019.
