Contractors holding a current certificate of responsibility from the State Board of Public Contractors may do business in any Mississippi municipality or county without obtaining a separate local license.

State-certified contractors must furnish evidence of their certificate of responsibility and pay the local privilege tax to operate in other municipalities or counties.

No additional privilege license bond is required for state-certified contractors operating in other jurisdictions if they already obtained a bond in their home municipality or county.

Contractors receiving a privilege license cannot advertise as "licensed" unless they comply with state or local licensing requirements, and must specify which city or county issued their license when advertising.

The act takes effect July 1, 2019.
