Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (Team Wildlife) won first place at the 17th Annual National LawFit Challenge held June 8-10, 2018, in Southaven, Mississippi, competing against over 150 law enforcement officers from across the country.

Team Wildlife officers won individual event championships including: Bench Press (Corporal Justin Gates), 1.5-Mile Run (Private Derrick Scott), Pull-Ups (Lieutenant Marcus Christon), and Suspect Pursuit Course (Lieutenant Marcus Christon).

Private Derrick Scott placed first overall among male competitors with a score of 397, followed by Lieutenant Marcus Christon in second with 395 and Corporal Justin Gates in third with 390.

Team Wildlife won the First-Place Mixed Pairs Division (Scott and Fulton) and First-Place Overall Four-Man Team (Scott, Christon, Gates, and Barber), marking Mississippi's 12th consecutive year winning the state title.

Legislature commends and congratulates the nine officers of Team Wildlife for bringing honor to their agency and the State of Mississippi.
