Recognizes that over 38,000 women give birth in Mississippi annually and at least half of all mothers work during pregnancy and return to work after birth

Acknowledges that pregnant workers may need workplace accommodations including more frequent rest and bathroom breaks, protection from certain chemicals, and assistance with lifting heavy objects

Notes that physically and emotionally stressful work environments can increase risks of pregnancy complications such as high blood pressure and heart disease, leading to premature births and low-birth-weight babies

Directs transmission of the resolution to the Mississippi March of Dimes and Capitol Press Corps
