Lamar School "Raiders" Boys Soccer Team defeated Hartfield Academy 2-0 on February 23, 2019, at the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) State Championships in Flowood to repeat as Class AAAA Division II State Champions.

Wesley Purvis scored on a 15-yard shot with 20 minutes remaining in the game, and Miller Hodge added an empty-net goal in the final two minutes to secure the victory.

Four Lamar players were named to the South Division All-Star Team: Sophomore Miller Hodge, Junior Wesley Purvis, Senior Jake Davidson, and Senior William Majure.

The Raiders finished the season with an 11-5-1 record and faced Hartfield three times during the year, winning 2-0, losing 1-0, and winning 2-1 in regular season play.

Senate and House commend Coach Leon Powell, the team, and coaching staff for bringing honor to Lamar School and the State of Mississippi.
