Requires a minimum of 30 days of in-patient care for drug and alcohol treatment across multiple commitment statutes, with maximum periods ranging from 90 days to 8 months depending on the type of commitment.

Amends Section 41-30-19 to establish that judges may require suspended sentences for second or subsequent public intoxication offenses to include in-patient care for not less than 30 days and not more than 90 days.

Modifies Section 41-30-27 to require persons committed for emergency care and treatment remain at the facility for not less than 30 days before discharge.

Updates Section 41-32-5 to mandate that chancellors order commitment for chemical dependency treatment for not less than 30 days, with maximum confinement of 8 months, though facilities may allow earlier release.

Effective July 1, 2020.
