Effective July 1, 2020, the Northwest Mississippi Community College District Board of Trustees shall consist of 21 members appointed by county boards of supervisors from 11 counties: Tate (5), Desoto (3), Lafayette (3), Marshall (2), Panola (2), Benton (1), Calhoun (1), Quitman (1), Tallahatchie (1), Tunica (1), and Yalobusha (1).

County boards of supervisors retain discretion to appoint any qualified elector from the county to the board, with the option to appoint the county superintendent of education whose term shall be co-terminus with employment contract, not to exceed 3 years.

Standard trustee terms are 5 years; if a county superintendent vacancy occurs, the board of supervisors must appoint a qualified elector within 30 days to serve the remainder of the unexpired term.

Trustees may receive per diem compensation as authorized under Mississippi Code Section 25-3-69 and mileage allowances for up to 15 meetings per fiscal year only for meetings actually attended.

Existing board members serving on July 1, 2020, shall continue serving until their terms expire under the new composition structure.
