Increases the maximum speed limit for school bus drivers on interstate highways from 45 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour while transporting children to and from school on regular routes.

Increases the maximum speed limit for school bus drivers on interstate highways from 50 miles per hour to 65 miles per hour while operating authorized trips other than regular school routes.

Maintains existing speed limits of 45 miles per hour on regular routes and 50 miles per hour on other authorized trips for non-interstate roads.

Penalties for violation remain a misdemeanor with fines between $25 and $100, and potential termination of employment as a school bus driver.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
