Changes section 63-1-33 of Mississippi Code to require the Department of Public Safety to accept certification of successful completion from secondary school driver education programs approved by the State Board of Education, in lieu of the department's own examination for driver's license purposes.

Removes discretionary language ("may") and replaces it with mandatory language ("shall") requiring acceptance of approved school-based driver education certifications.

Requires the Department of Public Safety commissioner and State Board of Education to jointly promulgate rules and regulations for implementation of this requirement.

Applies to applicants seeking original operator's licenses and regular learner's permits who complete qualifying driver education and training programs at secondary schools.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
