State Board of Education must develop and adopt a model dating violence policy by July 1, 2020 that includes definitions, safety planning, reporting procedures, staff training requirements, and parent/student outreach.

Each school district must adopt its own dating violence policy by October 1, 2020 and submit a copy to the State Department of Education within 30 days of adoption.

School districts must include the dating violence policy in student handbooks, personnel policies, and codes of student conduct, and distribute copies to students and parents.

All school districts must incorporate age-appropriate instruction on healthy relationships into kindergarten through grade 12 curriculum, with dating violence prevention required in high school health courses.

Healthy relationship education must cover characteristics of healthy dating relationships, definitions of dating violence, and warning signs of dating violence.
