Amends Section 45-6-3 of the Mississippi Code to revise definitions of "law enforcement officer" and "part-time law enforcement officer"

Allows part-time law enforcement officer pay to exceed the maximum threshold ($250 per week or $1,075 per month) when a local governing authority documents in its minutes that necessary circumstances exist to increase pay to maintain and protect public safety

Applies the same exception to the definition of "part-time law enforcement officer," permitting compensation above the standard maximum during periods when the local governing authority determines necessary circumstances warrant the increase

Takes effect July 1, 2020
