Allows adults to execute a written declaration designating a representative to direct disposition of their remains and purchase funeral-related goods and services, with provisions for successor representatives if the first is disqualified.

Modifies Section 73-11-58 to require funeral directors to follow the directive of a majority of same-class family members who can be located with reasonable effort when receiving conflicting disposition instructions.

Reduces the timeframe for disposing of unclaimed cremated remains from 12 months to 120 days after cremation by scattering or burial under Section 73-11-69.

Authorizes individuals with preneed contracts to modify the method of disposition from burial to cremation or vice versa, with refunds for overpayments and options to pay additional costs for upgraded services.

Effective July 1, 2020.
