Authorizes local school districts to compensate individuals employed in full-time instructional roles with relevant content expertise up to the licensed teacher salary scale, crediting 1.5 years of comparable classroom experience for every 2 years of relevant prior experience.

Allows assistant teachers who become licensed teachers after July 1, 2020 to be compensated up to the licensed teacher salary scale using the same 1.5-to-2 year experience credit formula for their prior assistant teacher service.

Requires individuals receiving such compensation to be licensed by the State Department of Education through either a standard or alternate route license.

Requires local school boards to adopt a policy identifying the type and nature of relevant experience possessed and ensuring instruction provided is relevant to the person's professional content field and experience level.

Effective July 1, 2020.
