Permits medical directors of licensed hospices to prescribe controlled substances for terminal disease pain without conducting an in-person face-to-face visit with the patient.

Authorization applies at the discretion of the medical director and supersedes any conflicting rules or regulations of licensing agencies.

Exempts hospice medical directors from the requirement in Mississippi Code Section 41-29-137(f)(1)(A) that practitioners conduct at least one in-person medical evaluation before issuing controlled substance prescriptions.

Provision expires on July 1, 2021, unless further extended by the legislature.

Takes effect upon passage of the act.
